18-year-old woman charged with rental scam, Ocoee police say
ORANGE COUNTY, Florida. – A woman was arrested in August after Ocoee police say she attempted to fraudulently rent rooms at Ocoee properties.
On August 12, Ocoee Police said they were called to 1242 Russell Drive after 18-year-old Selena Henningham was found claiming to live in the house while a locksmith hired by the property manager attempted to change the locks.

According to police, Henningham did not own the property. Police then told Henningham she was not supposed to be there, and if she did not leave an eviction would be filed, police said.
In response, Henningham told police she rented the house from someone named “Jane” and gave “Jane” a $5,000 deposit.
Police said on August 14 they made contact with a man who told them he had rented a room in a house at 1242 Russell Drive which police said was believed to be vacant.
Police say the man said he met someone named “Jane” on an app called Roomie who advertised a room for rent. Police said the man told them he paid “Jane” $400 to rent a room in the house through the CashApp payment app.
On August 23, officers responded to the property on Russell Drive again after another man claimed he had just moved into the house, police said.
According to the affidavit, this man told police that he rented a room from someone named “Jane Peters” and gave her a $700 deposit on CashApp.
Both men told police they met “Jane” in person, and based on their descriptions of her, police determined she was Henningham, an affidavit shows.
On August 30, Henningham was arrested. She faces charges of fraud and petty theft.
Police said Wednesday that Henningham was being evicted from one of the homes she was living in under false pretences.
Anyone with additional information about the case is asked to contact the Ocoee Police Department at (407) 905-3161.
