Robert Lewandowski could have a new suitor in Paris while Arsenal could be active in moving Nuno Tavares while chasing Lucas Paqueta.
Let’s move on to transfer movements:
In the penalty area
The biggest transfer stories of the day. These are the things that are happening, or at least about to be done.
There was no doubt the deal would go through, but Chelsea and Manchester City have agreed a £47.5million fee for the England winger, according to The Athletic. The clubs are yet to announce the official transfer.
As he entered the final year of his contract, City wanted to move on before losing Sterling on a free transfer at the end of the season. One of Chelsea’s top targets, Sterling is expected to slot right in on the left wing and expectations will be high given his goalscoring record at City. In 339 appearances for the club, Sterling has scored 131 goals, and he will now be the centerpiece of a dangerous attack. The Blues are expected to add Sterling ahead of their US tour.
After that move, City are certainly weaker on the wings, but Phil Foden and Cole Palmer should be able to handle the increased pressure. The addition of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez means this attack could be stronger than ever in 9th position as the team dreams of Champions League glory. But a busy summer is expected to continue. After adding Kalvin Phillips from Leeds, they are probably submit an offer on Marc Cucurella from Brighton as well, according to CBS Sports football insider Fabrizio Romano. If Nathan Ake leaves for ChelseaCity are set to pursue RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol.
Penalty area entry
Those moves might not be imminent, but there are plenty of transfer shots in all the smoke these players and teams might be blowing.
Could PSG participate in the Robert Lewandowski draw?
According The Team, Lewandowski is PSG’s number one attacking target to pair with Kylian Mbappe. Considering Barcelona’s financial problems, they haven’t yet tabled an offer that Bayern Munich would accept, especially as the German side refuse to accept a deal in installments. If PSG were to act, it could possibly hasten Neymar’s exit from the team, although it will be more difficult than expected due to his automatic one-year contract extension, while new manager Christophe Galtier says that he was counting on the Brazilian.
These moves can be speculative, but they should be watched.
Marseille are looking to add Nuno Tavares on loan
The Team reports that Tavares is a priority transfer for the French club. With the previous moves of William Saliba, Sead Kolasinac and Matteo Guendouzi, the road between north London and Marseille is smooth. But this movement is slightly more difficult to perform. Marseille showed interest in Tavares before Jorge Sampaoli resigned, but new coach Igor Tudor is reportedly still interested in securing his services.
Tavares has had a difficult start to life at Arsenal with inconsistent performances but they would like to add Lisandro Martinez to challenge Keiran Tierney at left-back. If the Gunners are able to complete the move in Manchester United’s interests, then Taveres would likely be allowed the move. The deal would likely include a purchase option as well.
Arsenal want to sign Lucas Paqueta
After being left out of the addition of Raphinha from Leeds United, Arsenal are chasing another Brazilian striker. Lucas Paqueta could be on the move as Lyon have confirmed they have received offers for him. Paqueta has asked to leave the team, which will make it easier to manage Arsenal, but it depends on the strength of Arsenal’s offer. The draw to play with his national team mates could help in this situation, but Arsenal not being able to offer Champions League football hits them in player negotiations.
