I Found Tens of Thousands of Pounds of TREASURE and Guns After Uncovering a Huge Secret in My Grandparents’ House
A MAN has discovered tens of thousands of pounds worth of treasure and firearms after stumbling across the gold mine in his late grandparents’ house.
Posting under the username EvilEnglish on Reddit, the Tennessee man said he was cleaning up the farm with a view to selling it.
His grandparents lived on the property for 20 years, and when his grandfather died in 1998, his grandmother left the farm and never returned until he died.
The longtime home was inherited by the Redditor’s father before it fell into his hands and he was tasked with cleaning it up before it was sold.
In his now-deleted post, the Reddit user said the inherited home was in dire condition after two decades of neglect.
But after dusting off the cobwebs, he came across a cupboard under the stairs that contained an old rug. To his surprise, under the dusty carpet was something special.
He wrote: “I pushed the rug further and saw a round cap with a circular indentation on it. I removed the cap and… A secret safe!
He spent a few days trying to open the safe to find out exactly what was so carefully hidden.
With his efforts to open the safe to no avail, he called Major Safe Co. and hired a locksmith, according to reports on imgur.
The locksmith initially struggled with EvilEnglish saying, “He said about 30 minutes later that if he had known what he was getting into he would have referred the job to someone else.”
But finally the locksmith managed to open it and revealed the treasure trove of treasures hidden inside.
The safe was filled with boxes containing old items such as rare coins, silver bars and many other things that her grandparents had stored.
The treasure chests had suffered water damage due to a leaking pipe, but luckily the valuables inside remained intact.
“I knew my grandmother collected coins, but I thought we had found them all!” he wrote.
Although there is no confirmed exact figure for the find, it is believed to be in the tens of thousands of pounds.
After posting their findings on Reddit, another user commented on their post and said that the Prestige Coin Sets are worth at least $20 each.
However, silver coins are said to be much more valuable in the market.
“At the moment, their smelting value is 17.3 times their face value,” the user wrote. “With silver prices low and demand for physical silver extremely high, most respectable dealers will pay you a meltdown right now.”
Additionally, the silver bars found by EvilEnglish were also worth around $24 each.
If that wasn’t enough, the lucky user found dollar bills that were worth quite a bit of money.
But the latest treasure he unearthed from the great vault didn’t just have monetary value.
EvilEnglish discovered another box full of jewels that brought him even closer to his late nan by fulfilling a childhood dream.
The Reddit user grew up when his grandparents read Treasure Island to him when he visited.
And it was a touching moment that brought back memories of the times he shared with them and his wishes to find a box full of jewelry.
“It’s funny that when I was a kid, in this same house, my grandmother would read Treasure Island to me,” wrote EvilEnglish. “And I’ve always dreamed of finding something like that!”
He then found another safe by opening a coffee table that hid treasures from his grandfather.
The second safe opens more easily than the first and he discovers a collection of old pistols with his artillery collector grandfather.
With his post now deleted, the last time the Redditor was heard was that he was debating whether to sell the items or keep them as keepsakes.
