MARQUETTE, MI – James P. Malvasio, 59, of Marquette, entered eternal life on Monday, June 7, 2021, at home.
Born November 18, 1961 in Marquette, son of Richard and Nancy Malvasio, Jim grew up in Marquette and graduated in 1980 from Marquette Senior High School. He enlisted in the US Navy, serving for four years with a period of service in Japan. After his honorable release, Jim returned to Marquette and began a career in residential and commercial painting and roofing. He had a strong work ethic and was a hard worker in everything he did. He was a loyal friend, both kind and generous with his time and talent. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back and help anyone in need. From his youth, he loved the great outdoors and all that nature had to offer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and canoeing on the Chocolay River and mushroom hunting. Jim enjoyed cooking and barbecuing for his family and friends, often using produce from his large gardens and the mushrooms he collected on his menus. The things that mattered most in his life were his family, whom he loved dearly, and his faith in Jesus Christ. He not only had faith, but lived it by showing concern for others.
Jim is survived by his mother, Nancy Malvasio of Missouri; his twin brother, Joel Malvasio of California; his sister Traci (Elfego) Peralta of Missouri; niece and nephew, Darcie Bolin of Missouri and Nicholas Rangel of Missouri; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and a lot of friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard; his grandparents, George and Claire Malvasio and George and Agnes Gregorich.
Friends can call Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Friday, June 11, from 4:00 p.m. until service time at 5:00 p.m. Reverend Greg Heikkala will officiate.
