Pest control called Canterbury Marks & Spencer after video shows rat in store
A pest control team has been dispatched to an M&S branch – after a rat was caught on video inside the store.
The rodent was filmed sniffing near the door to the St George’s Street entrance to the Canterbury branch on Saturday evening.

Chain officials confirmed that experts later found no traces of pests inside the business, but further cleaning was carried out as a precaution.
A spokesperson for the department store chain said: ‘We are aware of this footage which shows a rat at the door of the store after entering from the street.
“Pest control experts have confirmed that there are no traces of pests in the store and further cleaning has been carried out as a precaution.”
The video was posted to the Canterbury Residents’ Group Facebook page, where commenters joked: “It’s not just a rat, it’s an M&S rat.”
Another local added: “They go everywhere now, I’ve seen them where I work at a play school.
“It’s disgusting and they’re just as cheeky there because they’re not scared of people now – awful.”
The Canterbury Marks & Spencer is one of the largest in the South East of England, with a home department, clothing floors, food section and cafe.
