Roofing salesman in Shreveport accused of stealing more than $ 41,000 from his employer
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL / KMSS) – A Shreveport roofing salesman has been arrested after allegedly stealing more than $ 41,000 from his employer.
According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, on September 23, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the theft of 53-year-old James Mitchell. On September 27, Mitchell attended the Caddo Correctional Center.
CPSO detectives said Mitchell was accused of taking money from a client who felt she was paying for services provided by Rain Pro Roofing. The customer stated that Mitchell drove a Rain Pro Roofing truck and had the documents on a Rain Pro Roofing file. The client later learned that the contract had been drawn up for another roofing company.
CPSO detectives discovered that there was no record of the transaction with Rain Pro Roofing. Rain Pro Roofing’s total job loss and money not returned was over $ 41,000.
The incident prompted the owners of Rain Pro Roofing to check with other customers who said they paid Mitchell by check and cash, but the money was not returned to Rain Pro Roofing.
Caddo detectives also spoke to the victims and obtained financial documents and receipts that documented the payments made to Mitchell.
James has since been released on bail.
