Tadweer’s guidelines for improving pest control services
Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center (Tadweer) announced that the Abu Dhabi Quality and Compliance Council (ADQCC) technical committee approved its guidelines to improve pest control services and infrastructure municipal solid waste collection and transport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Developped by Tadweer in collaboration with the QCC technical working group which includes members of the local and federal entities concerned, these guidelines will ensure the standardization of specifications in the sectors of pest control and the collection and transport of municipal solid waste throughout the Emirate.
The Pest Management Guidelines aim to provide a unified technical reference for controlling public health pests by defining quality standards and standard procedures for pest control services. In addition, it aims to protect society against disease vectors, epidemics and the consequences of the misuse of pesticides, which can lead to poisoning or death.
The pest control guidelines also aim to maintain the biodiversity of Emirate of Abu Dhabi avoiding exposure of non-target organisms to pesticides, especially beneficial insects, as well as preventing the entry of invasive pests through air, sea and land borders. In addition, the guidelines aim to increase public awareness and knowledge of public health pests and to define quality requirements, procedures and standard specifications for public health pest control operations by which they will improve and organize the services provided and strengthen control and surveillance systems. in the private and government sectors
Dr Salem Al Kaabi, Managing Director of Tadweer, said: “The development of these guidelines will help us provide a strong legislative and administrative environment for the provision of Tadweer services that meet the highest standards. In addition to its various benefits for the Abu Dhabi community, the guidelines will enable us to achieve the goals set by Tadweer strategic plan as well as Abu Dhabi Vision 2030. “
“Ensure consensus on all technical documents published by CQC, we have formed a permanent technical committee to Abu Dhabitechnical standards, comprising all relevant partners from the public and private sectors, in addition to representatives from the academic sector. This committee actively contributes to the governance of the standards system in the Emirate presenting its recommendation on the approval of all relevant technical documents, which are developed by subject matter experts representing the relevant entities formed within the board. The committee is also responsible for prioritizing standardization projects and developing compliance programs in the Emirate in accordance with approved plans ”, Al Kaabi added.
The pest control services The guidelines aim to achieve several benefits such as improving the quality, safety and efficiency of services in accordance with international standards and best practices, rationalizing the use of pesticides to preserve the environment, minimizing the risks of developing resistance to pesticides and ensuring that pests, especially rodents, do not damage vital infrastructure such as sewage and communication networks and electrical installations in public and private facilities.
As part of the guidelines for pest control services, 11 technical guidelines are developed to meet the requirements of Emirate of Abu Dhabi in pest control services sector, including the benchmark standard guidelines for scope of services and frequency of public health services in very large entities.
The Manual for Waste Infrastructure Services provides guidelines for the collection and transportation of municipal solid waste to eliminate the mismatch between the requirements of various entities providing municipal solid waste collection and transportation services. This will enable the entities concerned to raise the quality of the services provided in accordance with international standards and best practices, while improving the overall appearance of bins in public places.
Covering several aspects of municipal solid waste collection and transportation infrastructure, the manual includes different categories of municipal solid waste generators, requirements for waste management infrastructure, guidelines for vehicles and equipment. service, guidelines and specifications for garbage collection bins and boxes, and guidelines for garbage collection points near farms, ranches and recycling complexes.
